Language Education

hello everyone!
get a confuse with the title of this entry? hhe yep i would like to talk about both language and education over this entry. these topics are quite interesting for me since i graduated from education of english department in my university. sorry if my ability of writing in English is not that well, about practice huh? lack of practice anyway ;p

okay back to the topic, nowadays in indonesia, the language education in many school is not get enough attention that make it such a boring subject, i ever did some interview to several students in a state senior high school in my city, i asked them about their opinion about the teaching learning process of language subject both indonesian and english, and you know they all had similar answer,they said IT SUCH A BORING SUBJECT, now allow me to tell you guys why they had an answer like that. and maybe i can give u a brief solution according to my opinion and my knowledge about it without any bad intention to the current system of education in indonesia.

first, in the teaching learning process the teacher only focus on grammar and sentence structure, it happens in both english and indonesian. teacher only focus on teach their students the way to make a good sentence, the way to make a good speech,why this sentence is wrong and other is right, i'm sure that you're also agree with them that this kind activity is make ur brain wanna get out from ur head.
Solution, why don't the teacher start teaching by using the literary work? since,the literary work is the tangible form of the language use. i think it necessary for the teacher to start teaching language by using it, because literary work has many aspects of language that can be discussed with the students, for example: for the english teacher that want to discuss about the tenses, instead of using the conventional way (write down in white board the pattern of tenses and giving them example of it and ask them to make another one example) they better use news paper for example or taking a short story from the internet, then print it out then give it to students and started discuss about tenses with that work. this way can make the students feel that tenses is really needed in real life not only for their examination, so they would be more interest in learning it. Moreover, it also has an extra advantages, increases the students' willing of reading, at least they will read the story or the news while they start to identify and analyze the tenses that used in that story or news.

Second, teacher gives students a lot of homework! yeaaahhh who's like homework?? NO ONE! mostly teacher forced their students to do some exercise in their notebook or in their workbook, and they give it in the short time,yucks!
Solution, hey people! language is not about only doing some exercise in workbook or making a number of sentence in notebook, yes i know that's also important for the students but everyday?everyweek?every single meeting? oo maaan are you kidding me?! that's kind of activity is only appropriate in one or second meeting but when the students start mastering the language or at least they understand about the language it self, it's no more necessary to do, why don't teacher start to give the students a project? no,it's not another name of homework it's a project, in doing the project students should arrange,plan, do, act, and resume the activity that they do, so they are directly involved with the material or subject, for example, teacher can give them a project to do a role play in a group and allow them to choose their own story or they can made it by themeselves. or may be teacher can give them a project to do a travel outside then asked them to tell it out in front of class and submitt the report of it later, see? it can be such a damn interesting activity!

well, basicly every single activity in learning and teaching the language should involved 4 kinds of language skill, there are reading, writing, speaking, and listening. those skills only can be train by practice not by sitting on class listening the teacher only and write down the text that wrote by teacher on the white board. it's about act! well, lets start to make the students of indonesia be smarter and active,,
sorry if my writing is not appropriate with the real condition in class, but believe me i ever be a students and teacher at the same time, so, this entry is based on my experience and thinking, no offense people :)
i just want to give a little contribution to language education in my country by this entry n_n
